Members of the SICon research group published an article in the journal “Frontiers in Built Environment.”

The article “Wood waste quantification from the furniture industry in Ubá (Brazil) and its reuse prospects in civil construction” is available as a publication submitted in 2025.
The study on the Ubá furniture industry shows that the region generates large volumes of wood waste—approximately 9% of the raw material used—primarily eucalyptus and pine chips and sawdust. The research indicates that this waste has high potential for reuse in the production of composite panels and sustainable materials for civil construction, promoting the circular economy and local environmental sustainability.
